We all want to feel we've got a great deal, and the best value
for money when buying a new mattress, however, there is a
huge mattress fraud taking place in the UK - the NBF estimating the fraud to be costing UK Manufacturers £100 million a year - with rogue manufacturers duping retail customers, contract/commercial customers, and retail stores, supplying inferior, poor quality, non-compliant products, described as newly manufactured from virgin components and materials. £100 million-a-year cost to British manufacturers!

Take your time - read the small print.
Scammers are clever, they're sharp, and have ways of protecting themselves and exposing you to losing huge amounts of money, even on platforms you believe are safe. So if a deal looks too good to be true, it usually is, after all, how many fraudulent sellers do you think sell at a loss?

Bait and Switch
You see pictured a thick, luxury, hand-tufted style mattress in the online photo, what arrives is a cheaper build that looks nothing like the image. When you complain, you're made aware of the 'small print', phrases like: “Image for illustration”, “Fabric / colour / design may vary”, "Model supplied may differ”.
The knock on problems of this scam are comfort and support not as expected, much shorter lifespan, if you can negotiate a return, it becomes time consuming and expensive, usually at your cost (big, bulky, heavy item).

You're not going to receive this mattress for the advertised price.

Full memory foam
What you read: “FULL MEMORY FOAM”, “ORTHO MEMORY”, “LUXURY MEMORY”, or something similar at a super cheap price.
In reality, nobody offers full memory foam, it would offer no support, memory foam is also extremely expensive, so unrealistic that a mattress with a deep memory foam layer would be very cheap. The truth is many listings use “memory” as a vibe, while they supply cheaper, non-responsive, basic polyurethane (PU) foam, or a super thin token layer of memory foam - you might be able to see through it!
Knock-on problems are heat retention, no pressure relief, not as expected, foam breakdown quickly, and in essence a waste of money.
